Lark is the product of a love affair between her mother, an elven woman named Marigold and one of the Vael Princes. Her earliest memories are of large corridors and a stone castle.
She was a happy child, and was loved despite being the product of an affair. Her birth had caused a scandal with ultimately the crown legitimatizing Lark in the succession, though it would be a slim chance that she would ever be the Princess of Starkhaven.At the age of five, her mother was murdered along with the Vael family. Lark had been hiding under the bed with her trusted dog, Barkley. Lark had heard and witnessed the gruesome murder of her father's entire family and her mother. She tried to stay quiet, but her sobs gave her away. She was found and Barkley tried his best to protect her but was killed by the merc band. Lark was about to be killed when the merc was stopped when another decided the child would be worth more paying off a debt to the Crows in Antiva.Lark was given to de Riva house. Traumatized and went mute because of it, Lark didn't speak for the first two years of her arriving to Salle.Under Viago de Riva's tutelage, Lark became a Crow. Her first kill came when she was thirteen. It was supposed to be an easy kill, and elderly magister that tended to his garden. It had been a disaster, Lark had slipped from her hiding spot, alerting the man to her presence, and having lost her dagger, she broke off a branch from an oak tree and ran the man through. Ever since then, she had earned the title " Oakthorn. " and while the contract had been completed, it had been sloppy, and Lark would need more training. However, a victory was a victory, and Lark was later gifted with a sword whose hilt was made from that very tree branch. Lark named her sword Oakthorn.At 25, Lark went against orders to free people from the Antaam in Treviso by using gorilla tactics of hitting one, hiding and hitting another. She was able to take down twenty Antaam herself and in the process earned the ire of the Crows. Lark was banished by Viago, and so she joined up to help Varric hunt the Dread Wolf.

Dragon Age - Inquisitor AU.

A Crow from House de Riva. Larkspur MacTavish was contracted by the merchant princes of Antiva to spy on the conclave happening at Haven. Lark traveled to Haven with all the intentions of just being a spy. She blended in as an ordinary servant of some noble attending the talks.Instead, she stumbled upon a ritual in the making with the captive being Divine Justinina, she attempted to intervene and picked up the strange artifact, however it caused an explosion and the anchor attached to her hand. When she woke up, she had no memory of recent events and now her hand was glowing.She decided to stay and help the Inquisition with the rifts. She wrote back home of her intentions and she was given leave to stop the breach. Due to her efforts, she became Inquisitor, and leader of the Inquisition. Grishaverse.

Larkspur is from a renowned noble family in the Wandering Isle known as the MacTavish Family. She is product of a love affair between Lark's mother, Marigold, and a mysterious stranger from the forest. This sparked scandal and rumors that Lark's mother had lain with one of the wee folk that inhabited the isle due to Lark's slightly pointed ears and later when it was discovered she was an inferni.Lark lived alone with her mother in the Isle's wilderness, living off the land. There she was taught witchcraft in the form of tending to the oak trees that shrouded them from strangers. Lark found with her fire abilities, she could also heal if she willed it, and her fire had the ability to make the soil more fertile.Lark was happy living alone with her mother. She did not know her mother's family, other than her last name. Her mother didn't speak of them.At the age of six, The MacTavish estate was attacked by Druskelle, and Lark's mother was killed in the fight, and Lark would've been killed too, had she not set the fields on fire to escape. She ran into the forest looking for the Wee Folk to save her mother, but instead she found a troop of second army soldiers and with them was the Darkling.Lark had grown up with stories of the Darkling and his achievements in Ravka and mistook him for being one of the wee folk, and begged him to his fae magic to bring her mother back. She had led them back to their cottage, but it had been ransacked, and her mother was dead.Lark was taken back to Ravka to become a Grisha in the second army. As she grew older, she excelled with swordsmenship, and fire wielding, but she was considered strange by her fellow Grisha. She would field fire without the use of kindling or gloves, she did not burn when flames touched her. She could withstand cold better than the average person.She found she could hear the trees sing, though no one really believed her. Her pointed ears led many to believe she was truly descended from the wee folk or in Ravka--the Vela.When Alina was discovered, Lark wasted no time in befriending her, and joined her side against the Darkling.

House of the Dragon.

PLEASE NOTE: Lark will only interact with unbeleveable, she is exclusive to Krystal’s Rhaenys due to having headcanons intertwined with each other. She is the only Rhaenys she will interact with. I will not be following other Rhaenys blogs, if you are a multi that has a rhaenys on it, you are fine and I will be happy to follow, I will just not be interacting with your Rhaenys.Lark is a result of a union between a man and a child of the forest. Sadly, Lark was orphaned when she was an infant. While not entirely human, Lark looked human enough to pass with the exception of her pointed ears.During his time at King's Landing, Corlys discovered the infant abandoned in the woods not too far from the red keep while on a hunting trip with the king and his court.Instead of leaving it to its fate, he adopts the child and brings Lark back to Driftmark. There he gives Lark to Rhaenys to raise. Lark wanted for nothing, always following her mother's skirts. She is younger than Laena but older than Laenor. Magic manifested in Lark by the time she became an adult. She could wield fire, and had an affinity to animals.She was known as an oddity in Driftmark, some marveled at her pointed ears and talents, while others were weary or outright mean to her for her differences, but she didn't let it bother her when she had a family she loved dearly.She became marrying age, and it was hard to secure a husband for her due to her looks, but one noble man, a son of a wealthy family from the Riverlands proclaimed his intent in marrying Lark, and with her mother's permission, Lark married the young noble man named Kaelum. She left Driftmark for a time, and lived a happy life with her husband.That next year, Lark was pregnant with her daughter, Lucia. A year after that, Lark lost her husband in a horseback riding accident. Without a male heir, Lark was driven from her home by her husband's family, and she returned to Driftmark with her daughter where she remained a widow. She was happy enough to reunite with her mother and siblings. She sides with Rhaenyra in the struggle for the throne.

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Lark is the sole child of House Oakthorn, a small but noble house recently formed by Lark's father and friend of Baelor Targaryen, Alessio. Having been a knight of renown, and showed great courage and triumph in the Blackfyre rebellion, he was granted land and status by Daeron Targaryen.Alessio was married to a beautiful red headed woman named Marigold. Together, they had one daughter named Ciraeth, by was affectionately called Larkspur or Lark by her parents.When she was a babe, she and her parents traveled to King's Landing to celebrate Prince Baelor's name day. There, Alessio proudly showed off his little daughter to his friends. He was quite proud of his little noble family.On their way back to their lands, their carriage was attacked by a group of bandits, Alessio, who was already injured from a hunting incident during the Prince's birthday was unfortunately overcome by six men and killed.Lark's mother was killed, and Lark was left for dead in the wreck of the carriage.One of Prince Baelor's bannermen came across the wreckage and found baby Lark still in her sling, asleep from crying her eyes out for hours. He took her back to King's Landing.Hearing the news of Alessio and Marigold's demise, he took Lark in as his Ward and raised alongside his sons.The Oakthorn lands returned to the King, and after much deliberation, they would be returned to Lark on the day she would wed, her noble status would remain intact.She grew up alongside Valarr, and is around eighteen years old when she met Ser Duncan the Tall. She joined Prince Baelor and Valarr to watch the tourney.

GAME OF THRONES.

Lark is born in House Tully, to Marigold Tully, the youngest daughter of Hoster and Minisa Tully. The first few years of Lark's life was in Riverrun. Her mother, often a sickly woman managed to give birth to a single daughter. Lark was around three or four when her mother succumbed to an illness and died.Lark's father is from House Blackwood, and was a love match with Lark's mother, and married. He unfortunately met his end when he lost his life defending his home during a skirmish with House Bracken. Lark was about five or six when it was decided she would ward with her aunt, Catelyn Stark.There, she becomes a companion to the Stark children, she is a year or two older than Sansa, and becomes her friend, while also being friends with the other Stark children. While she is a Tully, she considered Winterfell her home.When Sansa and Arya are sent to King's Landing, Lark accompanies them. Lark became a guardian of Sansa, and remained by her side.

TOLKIEN.

Born in the mid of November 584 FA to influential officials in Gil-galad’s army. Larkspur Oakthorn was 11 years old when she witnessed the founding of Lindon. Her true name being Ciraeth, but affectionately called Larkspur or Lark by her family, the nickname stuck even into adulthood. She grew up learning the ways of swords and archery and had great skill with dual blades. She joined Gil-galad’s army. She worked hard and her and her parents were sent to Eregion as part of aid in SA 1697. Her parents were slain by Sauron’s forces in front of Lark. Lark survived the battle and mourned the loss of her parents.She remained at Gil-galad’s side and took up her parents position. She witnessed the founding of Imladris, whom she developed a great fondness for. Lark continued to fight alongside her commanders through Imladris being besieged.In 3430 SA, Lark was there when the formation of the Last Alliance Of Elves and Men, she marched with the army in 3434 SA to Mordor. At the plain of Dagorlad, they met with the army of Sauron and fought. They lay siege to Barad-dur. For seven years she fought. In 3441 SA, Sauron emerged from his stronghold, and there was a great struggle, and the alliance proved victorious, but Lark witnessed the death of Gil-galad whom she admired so much. Lark debated for months if she should sail west to the Undying Lands, and ultimately decided against it, and stayed in Rivendell to serve Elrond as an envoy.In 2941 TA, Lark became an envoy between Rivendell and the Woodland Realm, where she dwells in Dale as well. While she hadn’t intended to get caught up in the Battle Of The Five Armies, she participated in fighting against the orcs. She returned to Rivendell shortly after.In 3018, Lark attended the Council of Elrond to see what could be done about the one ring. She sees the fellowship off, and continues her duty as an envoy, this time, she is sent to Caras Galadhon to treat with Galadriel. She traveled to Helm’s Deep under the command of Haldir and the elves of Lothlorien. She then followed Aragorn and his company into the final battle Of the Morannon. They were victorious and the one ring was destroyed. Lark witnessed Aragorn be crowned king.In 3021 TA, Lark departed from Middle Earth with Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf, Frodo, and Bilbo to the Undying Lands.

THE HUNGER GAMES.

Born to the upper north region of District 9, Lark MacTavish grew up on a large ranch. She lived with her parents . Her father worked the land and aided in farming.Her mother worked in town as a seamstress. Lark worked alongside her father in tending the land.While Lark was well off, she and her family lived humbly. Their home was tiny compared to the homes in the Capitol, though Lark wouldn’t trade it for the world.She grew up alongside her best friend and son of one of the stable hands. His name was Caelum and he was Lark’s whole world.At the age of 17, Lark was reaped in the 68th Annual Hunger Games. Her father had taught her how to wield a rapier at an early age as well as several different kinds of firearms. However, her blade was the weapon she trusted the most.Lark fought through the games with blade in hand and though she lamented taking the lives of the other tributes, she needed to survive. She needed to return home and to Caelum and her family. She was successful and was crowned victor.She was paraded around and when she finally was able to return home; she found that she had no home to return to. Her home had been taken and her family and lover had been killed in the struggle. Lark later came to find out that her family was suspected to be rebels, though it was a lie and Lark suspected that a neighboring ranch wanted her family’s land.Lark fled District 9 and found safety in District 13. There, she eventually joined the rebellion as a soldier, and served obediently for the next 10 years. She became well known for her swordsmanship and went on several recon missions as well as training the troops with melee weapons and firearms. She offers her blade to the Mockingjay as a symbol of alliance.When the second rebellion was successful, and the new republic was set up, Lark eventually returned home and took her land back from those who poached it. Her ranch became so well known and prosperity was brought to the District.

FINAL FANTASY XIV.

Before the Sundering she had many names. Azem, The Protectress, the Flamesinger, The Butcher, The Wanderer and Traveler...but her true name was Ares. The one road bound and sworn to protect the peoples of Etheirys by any means necessary. She traveled on the behalf of the convocation, exploring realms and stopping dangerous magicks, she did her duty as faithfully as she could.When she was home; she could be found at the Seat of Lahabrea, often arguing about creation magicks, or lounging with her friends Hades and Hythlodaeus. Yet, Amaurot could never keep her long. Off again to travel the star.When the Star was sundered, it broke into 14 shards, and Ares too was broken into 14 pieces of a fiery soul.Larkspur MacTavish was born to a small noble house of Ishgard. She was a child of surprise after her parents were told they could not conceive a child. She grew up wanting for nothing. However, she had dreams of becoming a knight and a protector of Ishgard.For the first few years of her adolescence, she begged her parents to let her train and become a knight of Ishgard, but fearing losing their only daughter, her parents had shattered her dream. It took her uncle to convince her father to even allow her to train with weapons and it was only under the guise of keeping her from running off and joining the Knights anyway.By the time Lark was an adult, She was set on joining the knights with or without her parents approval. Her skill with a blade and her control over pyro magic would've made her an asset, however, her dream would never come to pass.That same uncle that time and time again defended Lark and her dream ended up betraying her family by framing her father for treason. His execution was publicized and Lark watched the sword fall and end her father's life.Terrified that the Holy See would target her mother, Lark smuggled them out of Ishgard to Gridania. Lark worked odd jobs to be able afford a small house for her mother and herself.However, months after settling in Gridania, her mother died. The grief had been too much for her mother and she succumbed to a rare illness. Broken hearted, Lark sold off her small home and used the funds to become and adventurer. From there, she joined that Scions of the Seventh Dawn.

BALDUR'S GATE III.

Larkspur MacTavish is from a prestigious noble family. A young woman of twenty six summers, Larkspur MacTavish is known for her lovely singing voice and often has performances at the Baldur's Gate Opera House.Her family is well known among the nobility and several of her aunts and uncles have gone on to live successful lives. The family is known for their charity work and though a bit eccentric, they are well liked by the people.Lark's mother, one of the eldest of the MacTavish children; caused a scandal for the family when she had fallen pregnant by a mysterious stranger. Marigold was known for her love of nature and spent many hours in the forests near Baldur's Gate or she would take hunting trips with her brothers and father. She returned from one such trip with child.At first, the family kept it secret and Marigold would not tell them who fathered her child; only that she was created out of love and desire. When Lark was born, little embers flickered from her finger tips as she screamed, and with the slight curve of her pointed ears, it was revealed that her mother had chosen to lay with an Archfey.Despite the scandal, Lark wasn't treated any differently to her cousins and she was loved and cared for; even thought to be an unexpected blessing to the family. However, two short years after her birth, Marigold grew ill and unexpectedly died from a plague that swept through their neighborhood.
Lark grew up wanting for nothing, she learned a variety of instruments and trained in singing. She loved performing for her relatives even at a young age. Many were drawn to her singing, and some even felt their chronic pains and ills quell just a bit.Whatever power was bestowed upon her due to her parentage, it had not manifested again.During a winter performance in the central plaza, Lark was attacked and abducted by a mindflayer. It took many others. Lark had vanished onto the Nautiloid. While imprisoned there, Lark was infected by an Absolute tadpole. It burrowed deep into Lark's brain, causing her great distress. In her distress, she was able to manifest her power over fire, and with it, she was able to break free from the pod.Once she calmed herself down, she freed as many survivors as she could and as the ship went down, she was thrown from it. She awakened on the Sword Coast, little worse for wear, but alive. Together with survivors she began to search for a way to get the tadpole removed.Portrayal Notes- Lark cannot control when her fire manifests, but it can be conjured when she's incredibly distressed or stressed. It is tied to her emotional state.- Lark was raised by her many aunties and uncles, but mostly by her grandmother and grandfather. Despite being a child out of wedlock, she is deeply loved and doted on.- Her uncles taught her swordsmanship and hunting as they do with every daughter of the MacTavish clan. Lark learned from her famous uncle Oaken.- Lark has an affinity with foxes, and animals seem drawn to her, though she cannot communicate with them without speak with beasts spell.- Lark doesn't know who her father is, and is something she eventually comes to discover throughout her journey.
